This CPT article showcases, the Applied Pharmacometrics Training (APT) program, launched in 2021 by Pharmacometrics Africa with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Certara, and others, addresses the scarcity of pharmacometricians in Africa. Over three years, it has trained 27 fellows from nine countries, with 41% women, providing hands-on training, mentorship, and project work aligned with real-world drug development needs. Several projects have been presented at international conferences or published. By emphasizing job creation and local capacity building, APT aims to retain talent and advance model-informed drug development to address Africa-specific healthcare challenges.
